Constitution Pipeline Receives FERC Approval

The Constitution Pipeline project celebrated a major milestone yesterday when the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) issued its approval of the proposed route. This comes on the heels FERC approving the project’s environmental impact plan. PHS is providing grasstops education to NH business and policy leaders regarding the project, which now must receive a host of environmental approvals by the New York State Dept. of Environmental Conservation.

The Constitution Pipeline would bring natural gas from the Marcellus shale fields in Pennsylvania to the Albany, NY area. From there, it would connect with the existing Tennessee Pipeline, which serves customers in Massachusetts and New Hampshire. If approved, it would, for the first time, bring Marcellus gas to New England. Here is the Concord Monitor’s article on the FERC approval: ow.ly/Fm4Om
