BAE Systems Testifies in Support of Northern Pass Renewable Energy Transmission Project

BAE Systems Facilities Director Mark Bailey testified in favor of the Northern Pass Hydroelectric Transmission before the New Hampshire Site Evaluation Committee (SEC) today at a public hearing in Concord.  The panel will determine if the state will issue the necessary permits for the project to proceed.  Bailey spoke on behalf of the state’s largest manufacturer, which is leading a group of over fifty businesses comprising of all sizes and industries from across the state in supporting Northern Pass.  BAE Systems believes Northern Pass ability to deliver a proposed 1000 megawatts of clean, renewable hydropower to New England will help address the region’s increasingly unreliable and constrained electricity supply, which will keep energy costs unsustainably high.  During his testimony, Bailey noted that BAE Systems, other businesses, and business advocacy groups were not granted intervenor status, and feels the views of these employers and employer groups have not been represented by the Counsel for the Public during SEC proceedings.
