The NH House Committee on Fish and Game and Maritime Resources is currently considering HB 1575, which would make clean in state law that hunting with an air rifle is permitted. This bill is important to PHS client Sig Sauer, as Sig is the fastest growing air gun and rifle manufacturer in the world. Moreover, they design their air guns and rifles in New Hampshire, and will soon begin manufacturing many of these products at their major manufacturing facility at Pease Tradeport in Newington. PHS facilitated this briefing and demo at Sig Sauer’s world class Sig Sauer Academy to allow state lawmakers and regulators an opportunity to learn about the advances in air rifle technology and test the rifles themselves. The goal is to build consensus among regulators, sportsmen and women in and out of the legislature, and those with safety concerns to agree on legislation to make clear that hunting with an air rifle is legal in the state. After the briefing and demo, which was attended by state Dept. of Fish and Game Commissioner Glenn Normandeau and members of the House F&G Committee, participants commented on how much the event will better inform their consideration of HB 1575 and possible modifications as it goes through the Committee and beyond.
NH Dept. of Fish & Game Commissioner Glenn Normandeau joined House Fish & Game Committee Members, including Chairman Jim Webb (R-Derry) and Rep. Larry LaFlamme (D-Berlin) for an Air Rifle Briefing and Demo on Feb. 5th, 2018 at Sig Sauer Academy in Epping, NH
