U.S. Sen. Jeanne Shaheen (D-NH) and Velcro Americas President Scot Filion discuss how going over the “fiscal cliff” would impact the company during a visit to Velcro USA’s Somersworth, NH manufacturing facility on Dec. 10, 2012.

It took only three months working with PHS for Manchester, NH-based Velcro USA to establish itself as a key player in the business and political arena in the state and the region. That’s why New Hampshire’s senior U.S. Senator, Jeanne Shaheen (D) came to Velcro USA’s Somersworth, NH facility on December 10, 2012. She chose the state-of-the-art manufacturing facility to discuss ongoing negotiations in Washington to avoid the “fiscal cliff” and outline her approach for reaching a comprehensive, bi-partisan agreement. During her visit, she learned from company executives and employees about how the government benefits from the company’s hook-and-loop fasteners and closures – most notably on military uniforms – and how the company may be impacted should the budget cuts associated with the “fiscal cliff” become reality.

Her visit generated regional media coverage, giving Velcro USA outstanding exposure. The event was featured as the lead story that evening on WBIN-TV’s 10 pm newscast, and the next day on the front page of business section by the New Hampshire Union Leader, and the front page of Foster’s Daily Democrat.
